Journalist Sedef Kabaş: 'I am not appearing on screen, nor am I being allowed to!'

Striking messages regarding media and politics have come from experienced journalist Sedef Kabaş. Stating, "There is no balance left in the country for a 'mainstream media' to exist! There is no fair order left in the country for a journalist to report from an equidistant position!" Kabaş added, "I cannot ignore this collapse... I reject neutrality in the media and normalization in politics!" 

"I do not want to 'pretend'; I haven't done so until today, and I will not do so from now on," said Sedef Kabaş, explaining that this is why she is not allowed on screen. 

Kabaş stated the following: 

'I REJECT NEUTRALITY IN THE MEDIA!'

"Some ask, 'Why don't you appear on screen?'... I am not appearing, nor am I being allowed to, because I do not want to 'pretend'; I haven't done so until today, and I will not do so from now on!

In countries where oppressive regimes, fascism, and totalitarian mindsets prevail, let alone 'neutral' journalism; journalism itself is rendered impossible... Journalists who speak clearly, convey the truth as it is, fearlessly voice what needs to be said, put their finger on the essence of the problem, do not play the 'he is good but his circle is bad' game, do not bow to any power center, and derive their strength from the people are left unemployed, silenced, targeted, imprisoned, and even 'eliminated' as seen in the examples of Russia, China, and Azerbaijan!

On one side, there are members of the government who hold all the power, recognize no rights or laws, and plunder the country as if it were their father's property, along with those who profit from this order of plunder and lies... On the other side, there are millions who have been made the subjects of oppression, pressure, and injustice... Are we to put both in the same category? Are we to be equidistant to both? Are we to approach both in the same way?

There is no balance left in the country for a 'mainstream media' to exist! There is no fair order left in the country for a journalist to report from an equidistant position!

You cannot put the oppressor and the oppressed; the murderer and the victim; the pharaoh and the victim in the same category! You cannot have an equal attitude and understanding toward these two... If you do, let alone being a journalist, you are not even a human being!

Whoever tells you the fairy tale of 'neutrality' or 'mainstream media' in such an order of plunder and lies; know that they are afraid of the wrath of this oppressive regime... By pretending, they are declaring themselves a member of a dishonorable and hypocritical media... 

They are trampling on all values concerning conscience, justice, and morality! They have taken over the country... They have deemed violence against women, murder of babies, ignorance for children, unemployment for the youth, hunger for retirees, bankruptcy for tradesmen, slavery for workers, inefficiency for farmers, debts of a magnitude that cannot be paid by future generations, and division for the Turkish State as appropriate... 

I cannot ignore this collapse... I reject neutrality in the media and normalization in politics!
