RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
Journalists Nilay Can and Dinçer Gökçe, who reported that "the prosecutor who brought down the newborn gang was removed from the case," were released under judicial control.
Lawyer İrem Çiçek had claimed in a post on her Twitter (X) account on Friday that Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, who brought down the "Newborn" gang, had been removed from the case.
In her post, Çiçek stated, "Büyükçekmece Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin, who ensured we were informed about the Newborn Gang and performed his duty in the best possible way, has been removed from the case. This development has raised doubts in me regarding the fate of the file and the investigations to be conducted upon new complaints. Do not forget this file for the sake of our babies first and then public health; follow it, read it, and question it."
I WAS PUNISHED FOR TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
Following this post, lawyer İrem Çiçek was referred to court with a request for arrest. In the ongoing court proceedings, a house arrest decision was issued for İrem Çiçek.
Speaking to 12punto after the decision, İrem Çiçek said the following:
"It is unacceptable to have house arrest for a crime with a sentence under 3 years. I was punished simply for taking responsibility."
