‘Judicial’ rift in AKP: Former Justice Minister Gül evaluates Court of Cassation ruling

Former Justice Minister and AKP member Abdulhamit Gül commented on the Court of Cassation 3rd Criminal Chamber's decision regarding Constitutional Court members, stating it is “worrying for the sense of justice.”

AKP Group Deputy Chairman and former Justice Minister Gül made a statement regarding the Court of Cassation 3rd Criminal Chamber's refusal to comply with the Constitutional Court (AYM)'s ruling on Can Atalay and its decision to file a criminal complaint against the members of the high court.

Abdulhamit Gül used the following expressions in his statement on the social media platform X:

"The image of conflict between high judicial authorities is worrying for the rule of law and the sense of justice that lies at the foundation of the state.

The judiciary is an arbiter; it solves problems. If the judiciary loses its capacity to be an arbiter, it becomes a source of problems and conflict rather than a solution.

It is essential that every institution uses its authority and function, which derive from the nation, within the framework of the law. It is our nation's most natural expectation that judicial bodies also resolve issues by remaining within constitutional boundaries without deepening disputes."
