Justice Minister Gürlek announces: Mandatory lawyer requirement for title deed transactions begins

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that as part of the 12th Judicial Package, a mandatory requirement for both parties to have a lawyer present will be introduced for title deed transactions exceeding 30 thousand liras.

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek met with the President of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Erinç Sağkan, and the accompanying delegation. The meeting addressed topics related to the judicial system and the demands of lawyers.

In a post on his social media account, Gürlek stated that they held a productive meeting with the Bar Association delegation.

Expressing that the expectations of lawyers were brought to the agenda, Gürlek made the following assessment:

"As the Ministry of Justice, we will continue our efforts to meet the demands of our justice community in close cooperation with the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. I would like to thank the President and his delegation for their kind visit and wish them success in their work."

According to the statement made by the Ministry, the meeting also discussed regulations planned to be implemented within the scope of the 12th Judicial Package. Drawing attention to the role of lawyers in the judicial system, Gürlek used the following expressions:

"We are working on special regulations for our lawyers in the 12th Judicial Package. We know that our lawyers are experiencing financial difficulties, and there will be work in the package regarding this issue as well. We especially want to make regulations that our lawyers can feel in a financial sense and that can provide them with a benefit. We have already shared this issue with the public. A mandatory lawyer requirement will be introduced for both parties in title deed transactions over 30 thousand liras."

Stating that new steps will also be taken to ensure that judicial processes operate faster, Gürlek expressed that it is planned to include regulations regarding notary assistantship within the scope of the 12th Judicial Package.

Furthermore, Gürlek emphasized the role of lawyers, who are an important part of the judicial community, within the system and stated that efforts to strengthen the defense counsel are ongoing.
