Justice Minister Tunç evaluates UN General Assembly's Palestine resolution

In a statement on his social media account, Tunç recalled that the resolution, co-sponsored by Turkey and nearly 80 other countries, was adopted with 143 votes in favor.

Pointing out that this is significant in terms of showing the support of UN member states for Palestine, which has been subjected to genocide by occupying Israel since October 7, Tunç said, "The adoption of the resolution by the United Nations General Assembly, which demands that Palestine's UN membership be reconsidered by the UN Security Council and that additional rights be granted to Palestine, which holds observer status, is an important step for a free Palestine."

Stating that the existence of an independent Palestinian state "based on 1967 borders" must be accepted and that the Palestinian people must live in their ancestral lands in a manner befitting human dignity, Tunç noted the following:

"International mechanisms must now act without delay against occupying Israel, which has killed 35 thousand Palestinians—children, women, and civilians alike—and injured more than 78 thousand in the Gaza and Rafah regions. 

The attacks by Israel, which disregards human rights, ignores international law, commits war crimes, and carries out genocide, must come to an end. Israeli officials must be brought before the International Criminal Court and receive the necessary punishment. The occupying State of Israel must be made to comply with the provisional measures ordered by the International Court of Justice."

Minister Tunç emphasized that as Turkey, they will continue to stand by the Palestinians in their rightful cause and to defend justice and fairness in the world.
