Justice Minister Tunç on Eylem Tok: 'An arrest warrant has been issued'

The 16-year-old driver, T.C., who caused the death of one person and injured four others after hitting a group stopped to repair an ATV in Kemerburgaz with his vehicle, had been taken abroad by his mother, author Eylem Tok. Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding the incident on his X account. Tunç stated, "The investigation is being conducted meticulously by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office."

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated in a post on his X account that Eylem Tok and her son T.C., who fled to Egypt, have traveled from Egypt to the USA and that an arrest warrant has been issued for them.

The post shared by Tunç on his social media account is as follows:

"The investigation into the traffic accident that occurred on 01.03.2024 at approximately 23:50 in Istanbul's Eyüpsultan district, which resulted in the death of one person and the injury of four others, is being conducted meticulously by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Following the accident, an arrest warrant was issued by the Istanbul 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace for the minor T.C. on charges of 'causing death and injury to more than one person by negligence' and for his mother, the suspect Eylem Tok, on charges of 'aiding and abetting a criminal.'

After it was determined that T.C. and his mother had flown to Egypt on 02.03.2024 at 03:50, contact was established with Egyptian judicial authorities for their extradition to Turkey, the extradition process was initiated, and a red notice was requested for the suspects. Upon notification by Egyptian Interpol that the individuals had departed Egypt for the USA, the provisional arrest request documents prepared for their extradition from the USA to our country were transmitted to the competent US authorities both through diplomatic channels and via Interpol.

The extradition process and the judicial investigation are being followed meticulously.

I wish God's mercy upon our citizen who lost his life in the accident and a speedy recovery to our injured citizens."
