Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding the 9th Judicial Package during a visit in Ankara. Minister Tunç stated that the package includes new espionage laws to prevent foreign intelligence activities in Turkey, as well as regulations concerning the Penal Execution System and repeat offenses. He expressed that the execution regulations would eliminate the perception of impunity.
Minister Tunç announced that legal regulations would be introduced to prevent the activities of foreign intelligence agencies in order to limit espionage activities in Turkey. Tunç stated that the current espionage crimes in the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) are unable to meet the needs changed by technical innovations and said, "Our country should not be exposed to new espionage techniques."
POSSIBLE CHANGES TO THE ELECTION PROCEDURE
According to Kısadalga, Tunç also stated that the 9th Judicial Package would include regulations in areas such as reforms in the Penal Execution System and the punishment of insult crimes, and that regulations in accordance with the Constitutional Court's annulment decisions were also included in the package. He expressed that it is possible to make changes to the election procedure to resolve the bottlenecks experienced in the election of the President of the Court of Cassation.
