In the Çaykara district of Trabzon, one person lost their life and two others were injured as a result of celebratory gunfire during a wedding procession. While the judicial investigation into the incident continues, 2 suspects were detained along with their weapons as a result of the investigation launched by the Çaykara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and were arrested by the Criminal Court of Peace.
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç stated in a post on his social media account that the investigation into the crimes of "homicide and injury with probable intent" is being conducted meticulously and announced that the suspects have been arrested. BLOCKING TRAFFIC WILL NOW BE A SEPARATE CRIME
With the new regulation, the act of blocking traffic is being regulated as a separate crime, and a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years will be imposed for this act. Furthermore, if other crimes are committed during the commission of this crime, separate penalties will be imposed for each crime. Minister Tunç said, "No one will be allowed to endanger the lives of others in traffic."
PENALTY FOR CELEBRATORY GUNFIRE AT WEDDINGS AND PUBLIC EVENTS IS BEING INCREASED
Minister Tunç announced that the penalties for those who fire guns into the air at events such as weddings, engagements, and military send-offs will also be increased. The penalty for the crime of firing a weapon in a residential area will be increased to 1 to 5 years. In addition, blank-firing guns that discharge sound and gas cartridges will also be included in this scope.
