WILL THOSE SENTENCED TO LESS THAN 2 YEARS GO TO PRISON?
Highlights from Tunç's statements are as follows:
The rehabilitation of criminals is important. It is necessary to ensure that criminals do not commit crimes again after being released. We attach importance to criminals receiving education in prisons. We have protocols with the Ministry of National Education.
We want to increase the number of child monitoring centers where children are interviewed in the presence of a pedagogue so that child victims of crime are not victimized once again.
Our Judicial Reform Strategy document is almost complete. We have prepared it with the opinions we received from all high-ranking members of the judiciary. It will cover the next 4 years. The first issues to be implemented will be related to the criminal justice system. In execution, a person whose guilt has been finalized must be brought to a state where they will not commit a crime again. There are some issues regarding the grounds for arrest in the Code of Criminal Procedure. Judges should be able to make assessments regarding a person's intent to commit a crime or disrupt public order. When probation is applied for sentences under 2 years, it leads to a perception of impunity. Work is underway to ensure that criminals in crimes under 2 years stay in prison for a certain period.
Regulations are also necessary for crimes that disturb the peace of society. Penalties that act as a deterrent are required for these.
CONCERT INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO IMM AND ABB
An investigation has been initiated. Inspectors have been sent. There is no need to fear audits here. If you have a deficiency, you get anxious. There is no need to be in a state of guilty panic here. One should not overstep their bounds when making sentences about the judiciary. The judiciary takes instructions from no one. Responsible individuals must be careful with their words. Making an assessment about the judiciary is neither the right nor the place of a mayor.
