Kafkametler's bridge brought to shore after 160 days
The bridge of the Turkish-flagged cargo ship Kafkametler, which sank 160 days ago after hitting a military breakwater in the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, has been recovered from the seabed by a salvage company and brought to shore. Search efforts for the 7 missing crew members are ongoing.

In the Karadeniz Ereğli district, the Turkish-flagged cargo ship named Kafkametler, which was caught in a severe storm while transporting cargo from Russia to İzmir on November 19 last year, sank shortly after striking a military breakwater.
While the lifeless bodies of 5 crew members were recovered, search efforts continued on the 160th day for the missing captain Cemal Turan, 3rd Officer Berke Çamurtaş, Chief Engineer Veli Özel, 2nd Engineer Göksel Özel, Able Seaman Satılmış Uslu, Seaman Mustafa Nacar, and Oiler Ömer Hebip.
RECOVERED WITH THE HELP OF A CRANE
During the operations conducted on the seabed by a salvage company under the coordination of the General Directorate of Maritime Affairs, the bridge of the Kafkametler was lifted to the surface with the help of a crane and transported to land.
The name "Kafkametler" is visible on the lower part of the bridge, which was cut by divers and loaded onto the crane. It was learned that the operations will continue with the recovery of other cut sections of the ship to the shore.
