Karamollaoğlu reacts to the change of control in Van Metropolitan Municipality: 'There is an inconsistency in the AKP'
Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu has reacted to the Van Provincial Election Board's decision to award the mayorship to the second-place AKP candidate, Abdulahat Arvas, after the Ministry of Justice revoked the restored rights of DEM Party Van Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Abdullah Zeydan.

In a statement on his social media account, he said: "There is an inconsistency in the AK Party government's understanding of democracy and justice.
To make an elected mayor 'politically banned' through the judiciary as a result of a manipulation carried out two days before the election is to disregard the national will.
The people of Van have made their decision and elected their mayor.
The fact that the judiciary says 'no' to what the YSK (Supreme Election Council) said 'yes' to has demonstrated the weakness between state institutions. This attitude is in no way acceptable," he said.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the March 31 local elections, out of 30 Metropolitan Municipalities, the CHP won 14, the AK Party 12, the DEM Party 3, and the YRP 1. While DEM Party candidate Abdullah Zeydan won the Van Metropolitan Municipality with 55.48 percent of the vote, AK Party candidate Abdulahat Arvas received 27.15 percent of the votes, and New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi) candidate Abdullah Sadıksoy received 5.37 percent.
The Van Provincial Election Board decided to give the certificate of election to the second-place AK Party candidate, Abdulahat Arvas, instead of Abdullah Zeydan, whose right to be elected was revoked.
Objection applications to district election boards were made until 15:00 today. The process for applying to the YSK against the provincial election board and provincial consolidation records will end on April 10 at 17:00.
