Kaşif Kozinoğlu investigation: Raci Şaşmaz reveals why Osman Sınav left Kurtlar Vadisi in his testimony!

Raci Şaşmaz, one of the screenwriters of the series 'Kurtlar Vadisi', who gave testimony as part of the reopened investigation into the death of former MİT officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who passed away in Silivri Prison in 2011, stated that the character Kaşifoğlu in the series had no connection to real people. In his testimony, Şaşmaz also shared noteworthy information regarding the process of Osman Sınav's departure from the series.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the testimonies of the series' screenwriters Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener, and Cüneyt Aysan were taken in the capacity of persons with knowledge.

The screenwriters went to the Silivri Courthouse yesterday for the testimony procedures.

"IT IS ENTIRELY A FICTIONAL SERIES"

Raci Şaşmaz stated in his testimony that he had been the screenwriter of the 'Kurtlar Vadisi' series for many years and responded to allegations that have been on the agenda regarding the production for years.

Şaşmaz said, "I was the screenwriter of the Kurtlar Vadisi series for many years. Two issues were chosen to smear this phenomenal series. One is violence, and the other is whether they receive documents and information from someone. This blatant slander has been answered various times over 20 years, let us answer it once more: We have no connection, and have never had any connection, with any legal or illegal power or focus of crime."

Stating that the series conveyed social events to the audience by utilizing open sources, Şaşmaz noted that the character Kaşifoğlu was created to describe conflicts within intelligence.

Şaşmaz continued as follows:

"Kurtlar Vadisi takes a snapshot of society and, by utilizing open sources, presents them to the public in a format that the audience can understand through the power of drama. The character Kaşifoğlu was created to describe conflicts within intelligence, and when his story ended, he was killed off in the series, and the focus shifted to other characters and topics. The death of a character in the series signifies the end of that topic. It has no connection to real life. For instance, the character İskender Büyük also died in the series, but the real people who are said to have inspired that character are alive.

Investigating the death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu is the job of the prosecutor's office. We would only be pleased by this. If he was a victim of murder or if there was negligence in his death, it is our demand, like the entire public, that these be revealed and those involved be punished. This is entirely a fictional series. It consists of a combination of imaginary characters. We have no possibility of knowing someone's death in advance. Furthermore, although there are rumors circulating on social media that FETÖ member Ali Fuat Yılmazer interfered with the script, these reports are complete slander. I do not know Ali Fuat Yılmazer, and I have had no relationship with him."

Osman Sınav'S DEPARTURE PROCESS

According to the report by Yiğit Uzun, one of the notable parts of Şaşmaz's testimony was what he recounted regarding the departure process of Osman Sınav, one of the early producers of the series, from 'Kurtlar Vadisi'.

Şaşmaz stated that Osman Sınav wanted to offer ideas and recommendations for the script from time to time, but he did not accept this because he found it inappropriate.

In his testimony, conveying that Sınav told him after a while that he was receiving threats, that he had children, and that he wanted to leave the project, Şaşmaz claimed that Osman Sınav's departure from the series took place during this process.

Osman Sınav HAD SAID 'IT WILL GO AS A SECRET'

Sınav had responded to the question, "Why did you stop directing Kurtlar Vadisi?" by saying, "I have never answered this question. This will go with me as a secret."

RESPONSE TO THE HASAN ATİLLA UĞUR ALLEGATION

Raci Şaşmaz also denied the allegations that former Gendarmerie Intelligence Chief Hasan Atilla Uğur interfered with the 'Kurtlar Vadisi' script.

According to Şaşmaz's account, Osman Sınav and Hasan Atilla Uğur first met during the filming of the movie 'Deli Yürek: Bumerang Cehennemi' in Diyarbakır. He stated that the acquaintance, which began during the necessary permit processes because the filming was carried out in the gendarmerie's area of responsibility, later turned into a friendship.

Stating that he also met Hasan Atilla Uğur on this occasion, Şaşmaz expressed that there was no close or individual relationship between them.

Şaşmaz argued that no person was allowed to interfere with the script of 'Kurtlar Vadisi'.

GRAVESTONE AND LICENSE PLATE ALLEGATIONS

In Şaşmaz's testimony, the allegations that messages were given to AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his family through gravestones in the series were also addressed.

Stating that such a message would be contrary to his own beliefs and values, Şaşmaz said that the gravestones used in cemetery scenes were not directly under the screenwriter's control.

Expressing that it is impossible for him to remember the gravestone in question due to the years that have passed, Şaşmaz stated that real gravestones could have been used in the filming or that decorative gravestones might have been prepared by the art team.

Stating that it is not possible for the screenwriter or producer to know vehicle license plates one by one, Şaşmaz said that mostly rental vehicles were used in the filming.

Şaşmaz also denied the allegations that former police chief Ali Fuat Yılmazer interfered with the script, stating that he did not know Yılmazer and had no relationship with him.
