Key ISIS figure captured in Istanbul
A suspect identified as having provided bomb-making training for the terrorist organization ISIS and having participated in its bomb attacks has been arrested.

Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch are continuing their efforts to apprehend suspects who have operated in conflict zones and have links to terrorist organizations. The teams determined that a suspect identified as O.M., who had previously been active within the terrorist organization ISIS and had received training in bomb-making in the Mosul region, was in Istanbul. Focusing their efforts on this suspect, the teams placed the individual under surveillance using technical and physical methods.
The teams, who determined that the suspect was working as a street vendor to hide his identity, also uncovered that he maintained communication with other organization members operating in conflict zones. During the investigation, the teams also obtained footage of the suspect participating in bomb attacks that took place in the Mosul region, and apprehended the suspect, O.M., in an operation they conducted in Avcılar.
The suspect, who was referred to the courthouse following processing at the police station, was arrested by the presiding judge.
