Kılıçdaroğlu and Özel meet once again: All eyes on the party congress date

Following the injunction issued by the appellate court in the CHP congress lawsuit, claims that a request for the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters would be served in the morning hours caused a stir at the party headquarters.

A scuffle broke out between party members, including CHP officials, who were in the headquarters courtyard, and a group waiting outside the building in support of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

STATEMENT FROM MURAT EMİR

Speaking in front of the CHP Headquarters, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir described the ongoing process as “unjust, unlawful, unfair, and a blow to multi-party political life.”

Stating that the process deeply affects not only CHP members but all citizens, Emir said, “While we talk about democracy, freedom, law, and justice, some have set their minds on conducting an operation through the Republican People's Party, shelving our democracy, and avoiding the ballot box.”

“A MEETING WAS PLANNED FOR THE CONGRESS DATE”

Emir stated that a meeting took place between CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu yesterday evening.

Explaining that it was planned for two people from each side to come together to determine the date of the congress, Emir said that he was one of the individuals who would participate in the meeting.

“THEY CHOSE TO SHOW UP AT THE DOOR OF THE HEADQUARTERS”

Murat Emir made the following statements:

“While we were planning and discussing with these friends today at noon how we could overcome this problem, what the congress date could be, and how we could reach the earliest possible congress date, unfortunately, some chose to show up at the door of our headquarters with bodyguards and mafia-like types they found somewhere. This is not something we can accept, and it has also wounded the conscience of all our people. We do not accept this imposition. We will not bow to this bullying. We will not bow to this injustice, nor will we take a step back, with the millions behind us and the Turkish people who believe in democracy. Of course, communication, consensus, and dialogue are necessary to determine the earliest congress date, but the way to do this cannot be by entering the garden of the Republican People's Party with bullying.”

“WE WILL REPEL BULLYING ATTEMPTS”

In the continuation of his statement, Emir made the following assessments:

“Those who plan this, those who say 'let an incident happen here, let's get the footage, broadcast the footage on channels and watch with pleasure how the Republican People's Party members clash with each other,' and those who also say 'let someone get injured, or God forbid, let there be a loss of life so we can make politics out of it' are the ones responsible. We will not bow to them. We will always be on the side of justice, rights, law, and more importantly, democracy and the ballot box they are trying to avoid. Let them know that this is understood, and let them know that we will repel any kind of bullying attempt made against our headquarters, our garden, or in front of our door in the same way from now on.”

STATEMENT REGARDING THE EVACUATION CLAIM

When asked about the claims that the request for the evacuation of the CHP Headquarters would be served in the morning, Emir said, “There is no notification that has come to us concretely or officially; we have only heard rumors.”
