Kılıçdaroğlu breaks silence on party congress lawsuit

The lawsuit filed for the annulment of the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Congress and 21st Extraordinary Congress has been adjourned until October 24. The court stated that the requests for interim injunctions had been evaluated previously and that there was no need for a new decision.

One of the CHP's lawyers, Çağlar Çağlayan, reiterated that the court lacks jurisdiction over the matter. The lawyer for Lütfü Savaş, meanwhile, requested that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu be appointed as a precautionary measure until the case is concluded.

Following the adjournment of the case, the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu camp, which left his home with his lawyer Celal Çelik to head to his office, has broken its silence.

STATEMENT FROM KILIÇDAROĞLU'S LAWYER

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer, Celal Çelik, explained the reason for Kılıçdaroğlu's silence in a statement made after the hearing. Çelik said, "Our esteemed Chairman chose to remain silent in order not to harm the CHP. However, there are many things he has thought about and written during this process."

In his statement regarding the CHP congress lawsuit, Çelik said the following:

"I would like to say this briefly; your agenda and our esteemed Chairman's agenda are not the same. He remained silent with a persistent will not to harm the CHP and did not want to make a statement. However, there was much he thought and wrote; there still is, and there will be in the future.

It should be known that there is no intention to harm the CHP. However, we have faced a bad process; we have been left alone with immoral slanders. With the filing of the 'absolute nullity' lawsuit, it was claimed that he would go to the headquarters and take a bed there. However, the 'absolute nullity' lawsuit was not filed by our esteemed Chairman, and he had no involvement in it. He also had no involvement in the investigations. He has tried to stay away from any approach that would harm the party.

Rest assured that accurate information would be obtained from us. I warn you: one must stay away from false information and immoral evaluations. We once criticized Akit and the 'pool media'; it is sad to see the same approach in the so-called opposition circles. The Chairman tried to clearly state that he would not be involved in the lawsuits filed regarding the ordinary congress or approaches that would harm the party. That is why he remained silent; otherwise, he had much to say."

'WE HAVE NO CONNECTION TO THE CONGRESS LAWSUIT'

"We have no connection to the congress lawsuit. We have no expectations regarding the trial process, nor do we have any evaluation. Our esteemed Chairman has no evaluation or expectation regarding the possible decisions to be made. Now you are asking something based on a non-existent situation. We have no chance to comment. What is wanted from Kılıçdaroğlu? There is no possibility of him making an evaluation regarding 'absolute nullity'. You will have to ask those who filed the lawsuit.

Our Chairman is trying to stay away from intra-party debates. Is there a plan for a statement in the near future? As far as we know, there is not. When faced with a lawsuit, an evaluation of 'what the lawsuit is and what it is not' can be made. But ultimately, where the lawsuit goes is not our concern."
