Kılıçdaroğlu's lawyer lashes out at Selvi: 'Forgiveness is not Erdoğan's place'

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s lawyer, Celal Çelik, made statements regarding an article by Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi titled "Erdoğan has forgiven Kılıçdaroğlu."

Çelik reacted by saying, "Forgiveness is not Erdoğan's place."

'FORGIVENESS IS NOT ERDOĞAN'S PLACE'

In a message sent to Halk TV, Celal Çelik criticized Selvi's remarks and said the following:

"The term 'forgiveness' is an act of immorality in itself. It is not Erdoğan's place to engage in an act of forgiveness. Because he realized that we would prove the reality of the corruption, the situation was merely a withdrawal of the complaint to cover up the incident during those processes. In other words, Erdoğan withdrew his complaint to ensure that the facts of the theft would not be proven or discussed."

PRISON DEMAND FOR KILIÇDAROĞLU

The first hearing of the defamation case filed against the 7th Chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, upon the complaint of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will be held at the Ankara 57th Criminal Court of First Instance. Kılıçdaroğlu, who has decided to attend the trial, faces up to 11 years and 8 months in prison and a political ban.

SELVİ'S ARTICLE HAD SPARKED DEBATE

Hürriyet columnist Abdulkadir Selvi had written in his column, "Kılıçdaroğlu is preparing for a comeback within the CHP through this case. He wants to write a heroic epic. But he is stepping on rotten wood. How so? Because President Erdoğan has forgiven Kılıçdaroğlu."
