Kılıçdaroğlu's 'SSI debt' advice to İmamoğlu: File a lawsuit, they are obligated to restructure

The issue of municipal Social Security Institution (SSI) debts, brought to the agenda by President Erdoğan, remains a hot topic. According to journalist Barış Yarkadaş, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu discussed this matter with Kılıçdaroğlu when they met recently. Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "They are obligated to restructure the debt. If necessary, file a lawsuit; they will be forced to restructure."

The debate over municipal debts, which President Erdoğan brought to the agenda recently by saying, "There is no such thing as a bagel for 25 kuruş," continues.

While Erdoğan stated that the Ministry of Treasury and Finance would begin collecting debts from CHP-run municipalities, a series of statements on the subject have come from the CHP front.

Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has also joined the discussion. Journalist Barış Yarkadaş stated that İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who met recently, also discussed the issue.

'IF YOU FILE A LAWSUIT, THEY WILL BE FORCED TO RESTRUCTURE'

Speaking on tv100, Yarkadaş said the following:

"Ekrem İmamoğlu mentioned some of the difficulties the İBB is facing; other mayors and İmamoğlu said that they are particularly troubled by the recent SSI premiums and other debts, and that they have requested restructuring but it has not been done.

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said something interesting there: 'They are obligated to provide this restructuring to you; you represent the public. Go and file a lawsuit regarding these debts if necessary; if you file a lawsuit, they will be forced to do it.'"
