Kılıçdaroğlu's harsh rebuke: I wouldn't even give Sinan Oğan my shoes to shine
The 7th Chairman of the CHP, Kılıçdaroğlu, made statements regarding the party's amended charter during a live broadcast. Kılıçdaroğlu also declared that he would not offer Sinan Oğan a vice presidency or three ministries, stating, 'I wouldn't even give him my shoes to shine.'

Kılıçdaroğlu was a guest on the Taksim Meydanı program on tv100. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu answered questions from Gürkan Hacır and Kübra Par during the program.
The highlights from the program and Kılıçdaroğlu's statements are as follows:
"IT ALSO SHOWS THE DECAY IN THE STATE'S STRUCTURE"
There is our daughter Narin, whom Turkey has been talking about for weeks. The state is exerting all its power, but the murder cannot be solved. Would you like to say something about the murder?
- 85 million people are in deep sorrow. Can there be such an understanding of the state? We are all waiting with curiosity: Who is the killer? This also shows the decay in the state's structure. 85 million of us have started searching for the killer together. Can there be such an understanding of the state?
We learned that you will have a meeting with İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu tomorrow, is that true?
- I had not visited him after he was elected as chairman, so I will visit him.
Last week on tv100, HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekeriya Yapıcıoğlu made a speech saying, 'Article 4 of the Constitution is problematic in terms of democracy and should be open to debate.' What do you say about these remarks?
Zekeriya Bey has an expression like this: 'I am explaining it as if I am explaining it to fools,' he says. The debates on the first 4 articles are not new. They were being discussed even before HÜDA PAR was in Parliament. I have a speech I made at the TOBB General Assembly.
This demand had previously come from the AK Party side. Who is he saying 'as if I am explaining it to fools' to? He is saying it to the other actors of the alliance. And they cannot say, 'How can you say that?'
Where was Erdoğan when I was giving a speech at TOBB? Why isn't Bahçeli speaking on this issue? How can they be in the same alliance and raise their hands together? They are walking toward the same goal. They seem to have taken a step back due to the reaction from society.
THE LIEUTENANTS' "WE ARE MUSTAFA KEMAL'S SOLDIERS" OATH
The oath taken by the lieutenants with swords, "We are Atatürk's soldiers," was highly debated. There were reactions from the government and support from the opposition. What do you say?
There is an oath taken by those young lieutenants, our bright children. Which word of this are they uncomfortable with? I would like to know. Is there no photograph of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the room where Erdoğan sits? Every soldier feels connected to Atatürk's revolutions. What are these soldiers supposed to say? The rule is this: you should not feel uncomfortable with anyone mentioning a hero who fought for your country's independence and fought against the seven powers for that independence. If you are uncomfortable, you will go somewhere else.
CHARTER AMENDMENT IN THE CHP
There is a debate about the Six Arrows. It is mentioned in Saygı Öztürk's article. You said that a new interpretation of the Six Arrows should also be included in the new party program. Do these words belong to you?
The Six Arrows have been reinterpreted in every program of the CHP. It should be reinterpreted without compromising its principles. If you say, 'I will take it as it was put,' you will miss the change in the world.
Why didn't you go to the charter congress?
- Mansur Bey was also there at the dinner we had with Özgür Bey, and the provincial chairman was also there. Özgür Bey gave information about the charter. I said it would not be right for me to express an opinion without a written text. He said, 'We will send it to you after it takes its final form, we would be happy if you express your thoughts.' It came to me around 19:00 on the evening before the congress. Therefore, I did not have the opportunity to prepare an opinion. The statements made at the congress do not mean that I think positively about the charter.
So it was a done deal?
- That I said yes to the charter, I even watched it with astonishment, but it is not true.
When you go, you have to be part of one of these debates. If you have to say it is wrong, I did not go so as not to be part of these debates.
Had you conveyed the three-term rule to Özgür Bey?
I don't want to make this a subject of private debate, but if there are promises made, those promises must be kept. That is the summary of the matter.
It was claimed that you did not want to be in the photograph at the Charter Congress. You did not go to the congress. Why didn't you get into the photographs?
I have many photographs from before. There are none in the new period. We always show respect to those who have served as chairman in the CHP.
THE CHP HEADQUARTERS' ATTITUDE TOWARD KILIÇDAROĞLU
You have been getting into very harsh debates with some journalists recently. Do you think the Headquarters is a bit negligent in defending you?
- No. A politician must be open to criticism. What bothers me is that things that never happened are presented as criticism and that those who do this have also worked as journalists for a period. Journalism also has an honor. You don't sell your pen, you don't write for money. You will do both this and other things. And then you will slander over and over again. I am responding in the language they understand.
You didn't win the election, and you lost the chairmanship race at the congress. There were those who expected you to spend time with your grandchildren. You decided to continue politics by opening an office. The question of what Kemal Bey is planning became a subject of debate. You didn't form a new political entity, but you didn't withdraw either. What is Kılıçdaroğlu's plan?
- First, one needs to know the CHP. Being a CHP member means focusing on the country's problems and producing solutions, no matter what level you are at. All previous chairmen have offices, why is it news when I open one? The identity of the CHP is not an ordinary identity. The CHP is a party that founded the state. The words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk are very important: 'I have two great works, one is the Republic of Turkey, and the other is the CHP.'
Do you know why? If the Republic of Turkey is going to experience a problem, the one that will solve it is the CHP. Drug barons are roaming around, they cannot find the killer of a little girl. Unsolved murders. Prostitution is down to 13-14 years old. Money launderers are put in jail and come out walking freely. In this country, a prosecutor writes that a gang has formed in the judiciary. You can get anyone you want out of prison at any hour. Everything in the state is between the two lips of one person. Ambassadors were appointed from those who took bribes. Universities were seized, they stopped producing knowledge. Young children, elderly people are committing suicide.
Who will fix it? Great duties fall to the party. I am a member of the party. I feel responsible.
For weeks we have been talking about the İmamoğlu, Mansur Yavaş, Kılıçdaroğlu debates. Do you think these outbursts of yours benefit the CHP? Or are they escalating the debates?
- Which of the outbursts I made is against the party?
Doesn't your objection to Özgür Özel's normalization process deepen the debates within the party and make the CHP a party that is being debated?
Let me count them for you. Devlet Bahçeli, he normalized with Erdoğan, Numan Kurtulmuş, he also normalized. Now he is the Speaker of the TBMM. He cannot even dare to stand up for his own deputy (Can Atalay is in prison). Süleyman Soylu, he also normalized. Sinan Oğan, he both normalized and got rich. Don't we know? Mr. Meral Akşener, she also normalized. Everyone knows. Parties want to be in power. You fight for this. Can you come to power by normalizing?
"WE REAPED THE FRUITS OF YEARS OF WORK IN THE LOCAL ELECTIONS"
If the new management in the CHP made it the first party after 40 years, could it be because a different policy was followed than yours?
- No, the CHP is on the side of the people. One of our principles is populism. Erdoğan used to say, 'You cannot pass east of Sivas.' Today, the CHP goes everywhere. How did this happen?
Did it happen with the new management in the local elections?
- No, sir.
You said there is no negotiation with the government, there is a struggle. Did the words you said in the local elections fail? A Mansur Yavaş example emerged. He received a record vote of 60 percent. İmamoğlu also achieved a very high vote rate in Istanbul. By fighting with Erdoğan, are you also offending the AK Party voter?
- Normalization happens with the people. That voter (close to Erdoğan) is looking for a party to vote for. We reaped the fruits of our years of work. Normalization happens with the people, not by taking the people against you.
How do you find the performance of Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu?
- All of our mayors are successful. Ankara and Istanbul are also successful.
İmamoğlu was sentenced to 2 years and 15 days in prison. It is being talked about that it will be approved in the Court of Appeal. If it is upheld, İmamoğlu will have to leave the mayoralty and a political ban is in question. If it happens, what would your reaction be?
- Every segment with a conscience and morality must object to this. What does a political ban mean? What age are we living in? A politician will of course criticize. Ekrem Bey explained who he used this expression (fool) for. We all know that the judiciary does business with money. I hope the Court of Appeal does not make such a decision. When it goes to the Supreme Court of Appeals, it will overturn this freak decision.
If you find the party's reaction weak, will you start a personal movement?
Do not worry.
Are there those within the party who say, 'Let a sentence come to İmamoğlu so he gets out of our way'?
They are not CHP members. They are not even human beings.
Yavaş said regarding a late-given right to speak at the charter congress, 'We would be carrying wood to the fire of sedition.' How do you see the Yavaş-İmamoğlu rivalry?
- There is competition in every area of life. Competition should be in goodness, not in evil. I know that Mansur and Ekrem beys are competing in goodness.
The vice presidencies of the two names are being discussed.
How long until the elections? Why are we discussing this? A segment outside the CHP wants this to be discussed. The country is on fire. When the time comes, there are authorized bodies of the party.
The names of the two were mentioned a lot during the election process. Have you ever thought, 'I wish I hadn't been a candidate'?
- You need to know how the Table of Six worked. I never said anywhere that I would be a presidential candidate. Decisions at the Table of Six were taken unanimously.
The public thinks, 'Kemal Bey paved the way for his own candidacy, if he hadn't been a candidate, we could have won the election.' Maybe you would like to respond.
- I never said anywhere that I would be a candidate. We discussed it among ourselves. We prepared a Common Memorandum of Understanding.
Akşener said at the last meeting that she was presented with a fait accompli.
- True, we didn't talk. You won the election. If you don't prepare a common text, a great chaos will arise. But because the others went (People's Alliance) and surrendered to Erdoğan, nothing happened no matter what Erdoğan did.
You will call Akşener and ask. Why did she get up from the table and sit back down? Is the fault for this mine? All the burden is on my shoulders. Why did you go to Erdoğan? When we criticize, we do it so ordinarily... Actually, the Table of Six is the reconciliation table of this society.

"I WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE THEM TO SHINE MY SHOES"
You got into a polemic with Sinan Oğan and released a harsh message.
Regarding Sinan Oğan, I had said, 'I wouldn't even give him my shoes to shine.'
Sinan Oğan went on a live broadcast and asked house by house, title deed by title deed, and said, 'He offered me a vice presidency and three ministries, but this is not my priority.' Is this true?
And after this statement by Oğan, you said, 'Forget giving you three ministries and a vice presidency, I wouldn't even give you my shoes to shine.'
So, are these claims of Oğan true?
Since I said I wouldn't even give them to shine my shoes, it is impossible for me to say such a thing.
