Kurdish book and Kurdish post from the Directorate of Communications

The Presidential Directorate of Communications has published the book titled 'Accurate Journalism and Media Ethics,' which was prepared to 'guide' media professionals, in Kurdish as well as English. Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun also wrote his message announcing the book in Kurdish.

It is stated that the book, which consists of 5 chapters titled "Professional Membership," "News Source," "Presentation of News," "Correction of News and Right of Reply," and "Journalist's Use of Social Media," aims to contribute to accurate and reliable journalism. 

In the foreword of the book, Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated, "Especially social media and internet media stand before us as environments where professional ethics are ignored, reputation is consumed, and therefore many violations occur."

ALTUN: AS OUR PRESIDENT HAS ALSO STATED...

A section from Altun's writing is as follows: 

"As our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has stated, 'Conveying the truth to the reader and viewer in its simplest form is the sine qua non of this profession.' Undoubtedly, the greatest responsibility for upholding media ethics falls on journalists. Press members who do not deviate from media ethics will continue to be the guarantee of the profession's respectability and reliability. As the Presidential Directorate of Communications, I believe that this guide, which we have prepared with principles compiled and systematized within the framework of international examples regarding media ethics, will be an important resource for media workers and researchers. I would like to thank those who contributed to the preparation of this work and wish our press members who uphold media ethics and do not deviate from the line of truth success in their work."

In a post on his social media account, Altun also provided the information that "The publishing activities of the Directorate of Communications, which were previously prepared in English, Arabic, Azerbaijani Turkish, Russian, Spanish, German, French, and Greek in addition to Turkish, have reached 10 languages as of today with the Kurdish translation of the 'Accurate Journalism and Media Ethics' book."
