Kurtulmuş: Significant progress made toward a terror-free Turkey

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş first attended the "Global Quest for Justice" conference held at Bursa Uludağ University as part of his Bursa program. Meeting with students at the Mete Cengiz Cultural Center, Kurtulmuş stated that injustices in the economic and political spheres are dragging the world into a major impasse, adding that the quest for global justice is a common issue for humanity.

Stating that justice has been one of humanity's common pursuits in every era, Kurtulmuş said, "The period we are going through is an extraordinarily difficult process. We are passing through a time where everything is being turned upside down, destroyed, and almost rebuilt from scratch.

Therefore, it should be our common duty to make the quest for justice global and to lead it, being aware that justice is the most important issue we need as humanity in this process."

"Economic injustice is a threat to humanity"

Drawing attention to economic injustices in his speech, Kurtulmuş said that the gap in income distribution is growing. Stating that the world's richest 1 percent own 50 percent of the total wealth, Kurtulmuş said, "There was no such inequality even in the times of the Pharaohs. Therefore, this is not an issue that humanity can endure." Touching upon the fluctuations in the markets during the attacks by the US and Israel against Iran, Kurtulmuş stated that the war economy has turned into a major tool in the global system.

"In such a world, the UN has no function"

Stating that the United Nations has become dysfunctional, Kurtulmuş noted that what is happening in Gaza is one of the most severe tests in human history, saying, "In such a world, the United Nations has neither importance nor function." Speaking about footballer Lamine Yamal, who supports Palestine, Kurtulmuş said, "We stand behind Lamine Yamal. He is the honor of solidarity with the Palestinian people."

"Attended the meeting on Turkey's future within the framework of global developments"

As part of his Bursa program, Kurtulmuş later attended the "Turkey's Future in the Context of Global Developments" meeting, held at the Birlik Foundation Bursa Branch's Traditional Friday Assembly, following a "Civil Society Meeting" at the Merinos Atatürk Congress and Culture Center. The meeting was attended by Bursa Governor Erol Ayyıldız, AK Party Bursa Provincial Chairman Davut Gürkan, Birlik Foundation Bursa Branch President Muhammed Yılmaz, and foundation members.

"Power balances are shifting in the world"

Speaking at the event, Kurtulmuş stated that power balances in the world are changing rapidly and that the world is moving toward a new multipolar order. Expressing that tensions between Europe and the Atlantic are rising, Kurtulmuş argued that NATO and the European Union have remained ineffective in the face of ongoing crises. Noting that the United Nations has lost its ability to produce solutions with its current structure, Kurtulmuş said, "Such a world system cannot function."

"Turkey stands out as a reliable partner"

Stating that Turkey stands out as a reliable partner, Kurtulmuş said, "Turkey has begun to be seen as an important ally whose power is respected and whose power should be utilized." Noting that Turkey has the capacity to form new regional and global alliances, Kurtulmuş said that political stability is one of the fundamental elements of Turkey's rise.

Touching upon the goal of a "terror-free Turkey" in his speech, Kurtulmuş stated that the terror problem, which has cost Turkey nearly 50 years, has imposed heavy economic and social costs on the country. "Significant progress has been made," said Kurtulmuş, adding that the terrorist organization laying down its arms is a critical threshold. Stating that broad segments of society support the process, Kurtulmuş used the phrase, "We will finish this together."

"The cause of 'Nizam-ı Alem' exists in our state tradition"

Stating that the "Nizam-ı Alem" (Order of the World) concept exists within the state tradition, Kurtulmuş said that Turkey is concerned not only with its own issues but also with oppressed peoples in different parts of the world. Noting that Turkey has assumed a conscientious responsibility in many geographies from Chechnya to Palestine, and from Somalia to East Turkestan, Kurtulmuş said, "We will eliminate terrorism. We will fully consolidate democracy. We will implement human rights and freedoms at the highest level."

The meeting continued with a question-and-answer session, and Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş departed from Bursa following his programs.
