The KVKK stated that potential fraud cases can be prevented through a series of measures that can be taken during campaign periods, which are held under various names every November and are characterized by a surge in online shopping.
Points to follow to avoid becoming a victim of fraud in online shopping are as follows:
It should be verified whether campaign messages and notifications come from the original source, and the accuracy of the link address of the website where the shopping will be done should be ensured.
It should be checked whether the site where the shopping will be done has a 3D secure payment method and an SSL certificate, and the disclosure texts regarding the processing of personal data should be reviewed.
Instead of using physical card information during payment, virtual card information should be preferred.
Transactions should be carried out on personal devices if possible, and passwords and passcodes should be updated against suspicious transactions.
Emails whose security is not certain should not be opened, and one should not rush while making transactions in order to be careful against fake links and fake discounts.
One should be questioning if information unrelated to the transactions to be made is requested.
