Lâl Denizli to testify at Istanbul Courthouse today

Çeşme Mayor Lâl Denizli will provide testimony to the prosecutor at the Istanbul Courthouse today as part of a drug investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Denizli, who was summoned to the courthouse in recent days, is expected to be at the courthouse in Çağlayan around 13:00 for the testimony proceedings.

The investigation is being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Investigation for Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes. In a statement released by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated: "Within the scope of the investigation numbered 2025/280882, which is being carried out by our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Bureau of Investigation for Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes; a summons has been issued for the suspect Lâl Denizli for testimony proceedings."

In her initial statement regarding the matter, Lâl Denizli had said, "I will receive the notification tomorrow. If they call us, we will go. I have no concerns." She further continued her remarks as follows:

“I was in Ankara, now I am returning to Çeşme. I will receive the notification tomorrow. I do not know what the subject is. They called me and said, ‘you need to give a statement.’ I have no information on whether I am a witness or a suspect. If they call us, we will go. I have no concerns.”
