Last month recorded as the 'hottest April' globally

According to measurements by the European Union's (EU) Copernicus satellite monitoring system, last month was reported to be the "hottest April" ever recorded globally. In a statement from Copernicus, it was noted that the average surface air temperature last month was measured at 15.03 degrees.

The statement reported that this measurement was 0.67 degrees above the 1991-2020 average for April.

The statement, which included the information that last month was the "hottest April" ever recorded globally, also noted that the last 12 months have been the hottest months recorded in succession.

The statement reported that the global average temperature over the last 12 months (May 2023-April 2024) was measured at 0.73 degrees Celsius above the 1991-2020 average.

It was also stated that temperatures were most significantly above average in the Eastern Europe region.

SITUATION OUTSIDE EUROPE

The statement, which also addressed the global situation, noted that outside of Europe, temperatures remained above average in northern and northeastern North America, Greenland, East Asia, the northwest of the Middle East, parts of South America, and most of Africa.
