Latest on forest fires: Flames under control in some regions, response continues in three provinces

Efforts to combat forest and land fires that broke out on Wednesday in various regions of Turkey continue by air and land. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the fires in Yalova's Armutlu, Kütahya's Domaniç and Altıntaş, and Çanakkale's central district have been brought under control.

According to Minister Yumaklı's statement, firefighting teams are continuing their work in Muğla's Seydikemer, Antalya's Kaş and Kumluca, and Balıkesir's Edremit-Altınoluk and Gömeç. Citizens have been urged to be cautious in regions where hot weather, low humidity, and wind are effective.

LATEST STATUS IN THE REGIONS

Numerous teams were dispatched for the fires that started in the Edremit, Gömeç, Burhaniye, Ayvalık, and Kepsut districts of Balıkesir. In Edremit's Altınoluk neighborhood, 210 residences were evacuated as a precaution after a fire that started near the Ancient City of Antandros grew due to the wind.

Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Akın announced that the impact of the fire in Altınoluk has decreased, while the fire in Gömeç has not yet been brought under control. Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu also announced that 6 aircraft, 5 helicopters, 24 fire trucks, 11 fire engines, and 19 water tankers are participating in the efforts.

It was reported that 10 houses were rendered unusable in the fire that broke out in the Kumluca district of Antalya. As flames approached residential areas, evacuations were carried out in some locations, while teams continued their aerial and ground intervention to bring the fire under control.

In the Seydikemer district of Muğla, a fire that started on agricultural land in Bayır neighborhood spread to the forest area due to the wind. The Muğla Governor's Office announced that 25 aircraft, 410 land vehicles, and 1,141 personnel are on duty in the region.

Due to the flames approaching the Seydikemer State Hospital, 45 patients were transferred to nearby health facilities. In risky areas, 408 houses were evacuated; 703 people and approximately 100 animals were taken to safe areas. It was stated that 55 structures were damaged in the six neighborhoods affected by the fire.

In Çanakkale, it was announced that the fire that broke out near Ahmetçe village in the Ayvacık district has been largely brought under control. Another fire near Saraycık village in the central district was also completely brought under control with the intervention of the teams. Cooling efforts and checks against potential flare-ups continue in the regions.
