The indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office lists lawyer İrem Çiçek, halktv.com.tr Managing Editor Dinçer Gökçe, gazetepencere.com Managing Editor Nilay Can, the owner of the social media account "militerdoktrin1" Hüseyin Dicle, and Veysi Dündar as "suspects."

The indictment states that the suspects shared baseless news reports claiming that "the heroic prosecutor who dismantled the newborn gang has been removed from the case."

'CLAIMS ARE UNTRUE'

The indictment notes that following these posts, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç issued a statement on his social media account clarifying that the claims were untrue, yet İrem Çiçek continued to make baseless posts regarding the allegations.

The indictment further states that although Çiçek, as a lawyer, should have known that the division of labor and assignments within the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are not handled by the Council of Judges and Prosecutors or the Ministry, she insulted public officials in her subsequent posts on the matter.

LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST 5 PEOPLE OVER BASELESS POSTS

The indictment emphasizes that despite statements from the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and Minister of Justice Tunç regarding the alleged baseless claims, the 5 suspects engaged in disinformation and distorted the truth through their posts.

UP TO 3 YEARS AND 9 MONTHS IN PRISON REQUESTED

The indictment requests that the 5 defendants be sentenced to between one year and six months and four years and six months in prison for the crime of "publicly disseminating misleading information." Additionally, for İrem Çiçek, a prison sentence of 7 months and 15 days to 3 years and 9 months is requested for the crime of "insulting public officials working as a board due to their duties."

The indictment has been accepted by the Bakırköy 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, to which it was sent for evaluation.
