Lawsuit threatening Saadet Party's participation in elections: Filed by former provincial chair and associates
The lawsuit filed with the demand for the cancellation of the Saadet Party's 9th Ordinary Congress and the appointment of a trustee to the party administration will be heard at the Ankara 37th Civil Court of First Instance on May 11.

The trustee lawsuit was filed by the party's former Van Provincial Chair Mehmet Necip Yavuzer and his associates. The application alleges irregularities in the congress held on November 24, 2024, where Mahmut Arıkan was elected chairman.

Within the scope of the lawsuit, it is claimed that 789 of the 1,026 delegates who voted in the congress did not hold delegate status, on the grounds that 49 provincial and 750 district organizations, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, and Gaziantep, did not hold congresses within the time frame stipulated by the "Law on Political Parties."
The petition also requested the appointment of a trustee committee consisting of former Keçiören District Chair Davut Açıkgöz, party member Sedat Tarhan, and academic Kenan Karagöz.
The court is expected to evaluate the legal status of the provincial organizations that did not hold congresses in line with the information received from the Supreme Election Council.
It is stated that if the court decides to cancel the congress, a trustee could be appointed to the party administration, and the Saadet Party might be forced to go through an extraordinary congress process. It is noted that in such a scenario, the party's process for participating in elections could also be affected.
