Şahin made a striking comment about the crowd that gathered in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse to support İmamoğlu.

Here are those statements by Lawyer Onur Şahin:

A significant crowd was in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse today to support Ekrem İmamoğlu. However, even if no one in that crowd realized it, the historical moral strength against despotism was actually right behind them.

The Abide-i Hürriyet (Monument of Liberty) memorial, which houses the tombs of Mahmut Şevket Pasha, Mithat Pasha, Talat Pasha, and Enver Pasha, was right behind them.

In the historical struggle between oppression and freedom, tyranny and justice, oligarchy and equality, and dictatorship and social reason, the progressive must embrace its intellectual roots against the reactionary. Reactive, unconscious masses cannot achieve results.

The concepts of "homeland" and "citizenship" must be defended against the mentality of "sultanate property" and "servitude." The Turkish Nation must be positioned against contemporary dynasties.

The government is not afraid of you gathering there, but of you remembering the Monument of Liberty!"
