Leadership change at TSYD: Ünal Kılıçarslan appointed as trustee
The Ministry of Interior has removed Oğuz Tongsir, President of the Turkish Sports Writers Association (TSYD), from his post, appointing Istanbul Deputy Governor Ünal Kılıçarslan as trustee in his place.

The Turkish Sports Writers Association has announced that Istanbul Deputy Governor Ünal Kılıçarslan has been appointed as trustee to replace President Oğuz Tongsir, who was temporarily removed from office by the Ministry of Interior.
In a statement issued to members by the TSYD, it was stated: "Istanbul Deputy Governor Ünal Kılıçarslan has been appointed as trustee to replace our President Oğuz Tongsir, who was temporarily removed from office by the Ministry of Interior on the grounds that he brought members from Anatolia to the General Assembly. The trustee will begin his duties at the TSYD Headquarters today starting at 14:30."
WHAT HAPPENED?
In the Ordinary Elective General Assembly of the Turkish Sports Writers Association, incumbent president Oğuz Tongsir was re-elected president with 499 votes. At the General Assembly held in Istanbul, Tongsir's rival İsmail Er received 196 votes. The Ministry of Interior had launched an investigation following allegations voiced on social media by a group that lost the election.
İsmail Er, who was Oğuz Tongsir's rival in the Elective General Assembly, claimed in a post on his social media account: "The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior followed the unfortunate and bad incident that happened to working sports writers who were not allowed into TSYD facilities because their wives wore headscarves, and decided that irregular and unlawful actions were taken, resulting in the removal of the president from office."
