Left the Batuhan A ship that sank in the Marmara 2 days prior: 'We were welding every week'

A former crew member of the ship named 'BATUHAN A', which sank 4 miles off the coast of Karacabey district and southwest of İmralı Island while sailing in the Marmara Sea, said that even the captain had spoken about the danger of the ship sinking.

Speaking to Ceyhan Torlak from Sabah, Doğuşcan Yaylak, who worked as an electrician, said he left the ship two days before it sank and continued as follows:

"I LEFT THE SHIP 2 DAYS BEFORE"

"We were welding the parts of the ship that were bursting every week. I realized the danger and left the ship 2 days before. If I hadn't quit, I might not be alive either. Cook Zeynep Kılınç and Captain Hasan Mehmet Uyanık insisted that I stay. They said, 'Join this voyage too, then you can leave later.' But I didn't accept.

"THAT SHIP SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE ON A VOYAGE"

After leaving the ship, I came to İzmir. I was tired from the road, so I slept. When I woke up, I saw on television that the ship had sunk. I was very sad.

We were welding the parts of the ship that were bursting every week. Among ourselves, we used to say that this ship would sink soon. We were constantly repairing it. That ship should not have gone on a voyage."
