It has been alleged that some CHP MPs wrote a letter to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. The unsigned letter, addressed to Özel, stated: "As the Chairman of our party, founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, it is your duty, more than any of ours, to protect the founding codes of our party and to leave the legacy left by our great leader to future generations as a pristine inheritance."
According to a report by TGRT Haber Ankara Representative Fatih Atik, CHP MPs wrote a letter to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. In the text, which was reportedly written by over 20 MPs, it was stated that Özel "has been unable to appeal to the voters."
The following statements were used in the letter:
"We are members of parliament who have been entrusted with the will of our nation, who have given our word of honor to protect the supreme interests of the state and the nation, and who are committed to the founding philosophy and principles of the Republican People's Party.
As the Chairman of our party, founded by Gazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, it is your duty, more than any of ours, to protect the founding codes of our party and to leave the legacy left by our great leader to future generations as a pristine inheritance.
Dear Mr. Chairman,
We are finding it difficult to answer certain questions that are repeatedly and insistently asked of us, both by the public and during our field work. In order to protect the corporate identity of our party and keep it away from damaging debates, we submit for your consideration that you take into account and take the necessary action regarding the three points we express below.
Filing a defamation lawsuit against the contractor named Aziz İhsan Aktaş, who slandered by specifically naming certain Deputy Chairmen and MPs and alleging that he had taken large bribes from them,
Subjecting party members who are exposed to serious allegations or slander to an internal judicial process, regardless of their position or duty, and establishing a committee for this purpose if necessary,
Terminating the party membership of those who are still party members and who, in this process, have been in the position of confessors or slanderers, causing many of our mayors or party members to be held in prison and leaving our party under suspicion.
Respectfully..."
