Letter from Dilan Polat in prison: 'God gives the strength to endure'

Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, who frequently made headlines with their luxurious and ostentatious lifestyle and whose source of income was a subject of curiosity, were arrested on charges of money laundering, tax evasion, and illegal betting.

Dilan Polat, who is being held at Marmara Prison, stated in a letter sent from prison that she is very sad because she cannot see her children, adding, “There is a stark contrast between my life outside and my life here. Especially in recent days, I believe that this is a twist of fate.”

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz sent a series of questions to Dilan Polat, who is currently in prison, for her to answer.

The letter Dilan Polat sent to Saymaz is as follows:

“Dear İsmail Bey,

Due to limited time, I cannot answer all the questions you sent through my lawyer, Hüseyin. I am not aware of some of the questions regarding the company's financial and tax matters anyway.

Regarding the other part, I can sincerely say the following: Yes, I am very sad here. The biggest source of my sadness is not being able to see my children. Being helpless against the unfair accusations against me also makes me sad. But God gives the strength to endure.

There is a stark contrast between my life outside and my life here. Especially in recent days, I believe that this is a twist of fate. I will write a more objective and sincere letter regarding my regrets. May your child be your light. I wish you continued success, brother.”
