Lieutenant Colonel Gökhan Ünyeli has died by suicide following an investigation launched against him.
Ünyeli's funeral was held in Çanakkale, where he was laid to rest following the afternoon prayer.
In his final letter, Ünyeli described what he had been through. Writing a lengthy letter, Ünyeli stated that he had been serving within the TAF since 1995 and detailed the difficulties faced by non-commissioned officers and officers regarding retirement.
Emphasizing that humiliating measures had been taken against him over the past year, Ünyeli stated that an investigation had been opened against him based on a missed call received on his phone 12 years ago.
Advising young officers to record all their actions and to file criminal complaints with the prosecutor's office regarding any missed calls they receive, Ünyeli said he held no grudges against any of his fellow soldiers.
