Lifeless body of worker trapped under collapsed building in Güngören found

The lifeless body of Zekeriya Yılmaz, a worker who remained trapped under the rubble following a partial building collapse during urban transformation work in Güngören on November 29, has been recovered. Following three days of search and rescue efforts, it was determined that Yılmaz had lost his life.

The location of worker Zekeriya Yılmaz, who remained trapped under the rubble after a building in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood partially collapsed during demolition as part of an urban transformation project on November 29, was identified by search and rescue teams.

The teams stopped the heavy machinery and descended into the area where Yılmaz was located.

Examinations by medical teams confirmed that the worker, who had been trapped under the rubble for 3 days while rescue efforts were underway, had lost his life. Efforts to remove Yılmaz's body from the wreckage are ongoing.

3-STORY BUILDING HAD COLLAPSED

Two workers were trapped under the rubble following a partial collapse of a 3-story building undergoing demolition as part of an urban transformation project in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood on November 29. One of the workers rescued by the teams was taken to the hospital, and it was learned that their life was not in danger.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Police Department regarding the two workers trapped under the collapse, F.Ö., who was tasked with the demolition work, and B.H., an official from the company carrying out the demolition, were taken into custody.

The suspects were arrested by the duty magistrate at the courthouse after their procedures at the police station were completed.
