The dismissal file regarding the lieutenants who chanted the slogan “We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal” after crossing swords and reciting the officer's oath at the graduation of the Military Academy, affiliated with the National Defense University (MSÜ), will be discussed on January 16.
Dr. Mustafa Güler, the lawyer for the young lieutenants facing dismissal, explained the latest developments regarding the matter.
As reported by Tele1, Güler pointed out that the lieutenants waited for the official ceremony and protocol to disperse before proceeding to take photos with their families who had come onto the field.
"SECURITY OFFICERS REMOVED THE BARRICADES"
Güler continued as follows:
“News arrives that the President has left, security officers remove the barricade, and the lieutenants are told, 'Go ahead, you can enter.' There is no such thing as breaking through or jumping over a barricade. This barricade is mentioned everywhere in the file, but it was the security officers who removed it.”
"COMMANDERS WERE ALSO ON THE FIELD DURING THE OATH"
After the families descended onto the field, the lieutenants performed the traditional sword-crossing oath. Both the Ministry of National Defense and the National Defense University accept that this oath is traditional. Afterward, Lieutenant Ebru joined her friends and led them in reciting the officer's oath.
The offense committed here is alleged to be acts and behaviors that would damage the reputation of the Turkish Armed Forces and the state. However, while this alleged act was taking place, the battalion and company commanders were also on the field watching the events. In this case, shouldn't the commanders have intervened in the situation that is the subject of the allegation?
These commanders were also recording with their mobile phones. So, it was such a routine thing. Ultimately, the first reaction came from the Rector of the National Defense University. The Rector leaves the area, then hears the slogan 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal' and grabs his phone. He calls Deputy Dean Arif Sarı.
THE PHOTOS OF THE LIEUTENANTS THAT DAY WERE TAKEN UPON INSTRUCTION
He speaks as follows: 'Meanwhile, the gathered lieutenants raised their swords after the announcement and chanted, 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal.' Lieutenant Ebru reached them, the slogan was stopped upon the command of someone from within the group, then Lieutenant Ebru recited the oath, and the group repeated it. After the oath began, it continued. When the voices of the group grew louder, as we went outside to see off our President, our Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Afyoncu called me on the phone and said, 'Are you in the stands?' After I said 'Yes,' he said, 'Follow what is happening on the field.' I then sent the photographer who was in the stands to the field and told him to follow the events.'
ALLEGATION THAT LIEUTENANT EBRU ORGANIZED THE PRESS
The lieutenants' lawyer, Dr. Mustafa Güler, announced that the allegations that Lieutenant Ebru organized the press to take photos and videos, which came to the agenda after the incident, were not confirmed during the disciplinary investigation, and it was recorded in the file that when Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu's announcement was identified, it had nothing to do with the press.
