Lütfü Savaş files criminal complaint against CHP Chairman Özel and Istanbul Mayor İmamoğlu: 'Honor and dignity were offended'
Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş has filed a criminal complaint against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

In the complaint petition submitted through his lawyer Onur Yusuf Üregen, Savaş recalled that his client had filed a lawsuit with the Ankara 31st Civil Court of First Instance seeking the immediate suspension of the current CHP Central Executive Board, Party Assembly, and High Disciplinary Board, as well as the cancellation of the party congress.
The petition stated that following this, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel referred to Savaş as a "pawn" in his statements to the press, noting: "Özgür Özel likened my client to a pawn due to the congress cancellation lawsuit he filed and stated that he was being directed by others. With the words he used, Özel has clearly offended my client's honor, dignity, and reputation."
The petition requested that an investigation be launched against Özel for the crime of "insult."
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST İMAMOĞLU
In the other petition submitted by lawyer Üregen to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was noted that the will of the delegates was compromised when Ekrem İmamoğlu, who served as the chair of the council during the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress on November 4-5, 2023, stated that Kılıçdaroğlu had withdrawn during his speech following the first round of voting.
The petition stated, "During the interval between the two meetings at the congress and as soon as the second meeting began, many people were given false information that Kılıçdaroğlu had withdrawn from the candidacy; in this way, the will of the delegates was manipulated and the fair conduct of the election process was prevented. It is clearly seen that during this process, the chair of the council made unlawful interventions and the free will of the delegates was violated."
The petition, which alleged that public duties were used as bribes and public resources were distributed for political purposes during the congress process, requested that legal and criminal proceedings be initiated against the relevant individuals, that the congress election results be examined due to the compromise of the delegates' will, and that an expert examination be conducted regarding the illegality of the election process.
The petition requested that an investigation be launched against İmamoğlu for the crimes of "forgery of official documents," "misconduct in office," and "publicly disseminating misleading information."
