9 people have been detained on charges of defrauding 2 people living in İzmir of 3 million 226 thousand lira through a fake website they set up by copying the design of a luxury car brand's website.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
Teams from the Provincial Security Directorate's Cyber Crimes Branch launched an investigation following a complaint from 2 people who were defrauded while ordering cars online.
As a result of the investigations, it was determined that the victims, who placed orders for 2 cars by imitating the car brand's website, were defrauded of 3 million 226 thousand lira.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION
Police teams determined that the suspects were residing in Istanbul. 9 people were detained in a simultaneous operation carried out at the suspects' homes in the morning hours.
During searches conducted at the addresses, an unlicensed pistol, a magazine, 32 cartridges, a magnetic card reader and printer, 6 various bank cards, 5 laptops, a hard drive, 3 portable memory sticks, 10 mobile phones, and 11 SIM cards were seized.
It was also determined that the fake website created by the suspects appeared at the top of search results for the brand.
