Mahmut Arıkan's call to President Erdoğan regarding TV series and ATV: Call your biggest supporter

Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan addressed President Erdoğan from the podium, stating that he should intervene in productions that negatively affect society, and that he could start with ATV.

Saadet Party Chairman Arıkan made the following statements in his speech:

'Say "Hello Serhat" and you can remove, with a single phone call, the immoral TV series on ATV, your biggest supporter, and the morning programs that put dynamite at the root of family values.'

Arıkan leveled harsh criticisms at the government over television series and programs during his speech at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Arıkan spoke as follows:

"We expect you to say 'Hello Mehmet' and call RTÜK Chairman Mehmet Daniş. You know, once upon a time you used to make phone calls saying 'Hello Fatih' over a subtitle; today, you can say 'Hello Mehmet,' call the RTÜK Chairman, and put an end to this disgrace on the screens with a single phone call. Our people gave you this authority.

In the referendum held eight years ago, the people gave you this authority. Now, while you have the phone in your hand, we want you to make one more call.

With one phone call, you can say 'Hello Serhat' and remove the immoral TV series on ATV, your biggest supporter, and the morning programs that put dynamite at the root of family values.

Mr. President; our national and spiritual values, our family structure, and the lives of our children are much more precious and valuable than the subtitle you had removed because you didn't like it.

No one should take offense. You cannot bring peace and security to this country with Arka Sokaklar. You cannot strengthen the state with Teşkilat. You cannot dismantle dark structures.

You cannot guide society by acting tough with Eşref Rüya. You cannot protect the family with Kızılcık Şerbeti. You cannot build our faith and values with Kızıl Goncalar. Admit this; societies do not rise through TV series, societies rise through justice."
