Major blow to SİNPAŞ project from Marmaris Municipality

Marmaris Municipality has expanded the scope of its legal and technical investigations into the Kızılbük Resort Hotel and Timeshare project by revoking a total of 58 building permits. During a press conference attended by CHP Party Assembly Member Baran Bozoğlu, Mayor Acar Ünlü stated, "We will do what is necessary within the legal process to protect the nature of Marmaris."

25 MORE PERMITS REVOKED 

Having previously revoked 33 permits for the initial phases of the project, Marmaris Municipality today canceled 25 building permits for the 3rd phase. Mayor Ünlü emphasized that technical examinations revealed the project's zoning documents were not in compliance with regulations.

DEMOLITION ORDER ON THE AGENDA

Mayor Ünlü announced that an investigation has been launched into the former municipal administration due to unlawful practices in the project and that a criminal complaint will be filed with the prosecutor's office. Stating that the municipality would use all its resources if a demolition order is issued, Ünlü said, "If it is necessary to demolish this project that harms Marmaris, I will be the one to strike the first blow."

"A HISTORIC DECISION"

CHP Party Assembly Member Baran Bozoğlu stated that the decision sets a precedent for Turkey's urbanization policy, adding, "This step is historic in terms of protecting our coasts and defending the right to live in a healthy environment."

Marmaris Municipality had previously imposed a record fine of 1 billion 781 million TL on SİNPAŞ within the scope of the same project. With the latest permit revocations, investigations into the project are expected to deepen further.
