Major development regarding Bülent Cihantimur, ex-husband of Eylem Tok, in the fatal accident that has gripped Turkey!

Bülent Cihantimur, the father of the 17-year-old driver T.C. who was determined to have caused the accident in Eyüpsultan that left 1 person dead and 4 injured, will have his statement taken as a "suspect."

The investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the accident, in which Oğuz Murat Aci lost his life and 4 others were injured, is ongoing.

It has been learned that within the scope of the investigation, Cihantimur, the father of the 17-year-old driver T.C., has been summoned to the prosecutor's office to provide a statement as a "suspect" on charges of "aiding and abetting a criminal."

EYLEM TOK AND HER SON WERE SPOTTED IN NEW YORK

After the fatal accident, mother Eylem Tok had smuggled her son first to Egypt and then to the U.S. The mother and her son T.C., who are wanted via an Interpol Red Notice, were last spotted in New York.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

In Eyüpsultan, one of three ATV vehicles traveling on the road broke down; while the broken-down vehicle pulled to the side of the road was being repaired, one of two vehicles traveling in the same direction struck the 3 ATVs at the scene.

The 5 people injured in the accident were taken to the hospital, and one of the injured, Oğuz Murat Aci, could not be saved despite medical intervention.

Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old driver T.C., who caused the accident, fled the scene in a vehicle driven by his mother Eylem Tok, who had arrived at the location, and that they went to Istanbul Airport around 02:00 and flew to Egypt around 04:30.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, arrest warrants were issued for T.C. and Eylem Tok, who had fled to Egypt, and subsequently, a request was sent to the Ministry of Justice for the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç also announced that contact had been established with Egyptian judicial authorities and that documents requesting the provisional arrest of the suspects, who were determined to have gone to the U.S., had been forwarded to the competent U.S. authorities.

Ayşe Ceren Saltoğlu, a corporate communications specialist working at the workplace of the suspect's father, Bülent Cihantimur, was arrested on charges of "aiding and abetting a criminal" and "concealing evidence," while judicial control measures were applied to Cihantimur and A.K., who had delivered the lost phone of one of the injured to the police after the accident.
