Major drug operation in Diyarbakır: Millions of cannabis plants seized
In a large-scale drug operation carried out across various districts of Diyarbakır, over 1 million 755 thousand cannabis and skunk plants, along with 54 kilograms of marijuana, were seized, and 31 people were detained.

A major blow was dealt to drug production and trafficking in comprehensive operations carried out by the gendarmerie in Diyarbakır. In interventions covering the districts of Lice, Hani, Hazro, Kocaköy, and Kulp, 1 million 755 thousand 212 illegally cultivated cannabis and skunk plants were identified and seized. Additionally, 54 kilograms of marijuana were found during the operation.
The large-scale effort was conducted under the coordination of the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Gendarmerie General Command's Departments of Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Narcotics, with the contribution of teams from the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Narcotics Branch. A total of 81 operational teams and 770 personnel took part in the operations, which were carried out within the framework of the "Action Plan for Combating Illegal Cannabis Cultivation." Furthermore, remote sensing technologies were used effectively during the operations.
In the statement made following the operation, it was noted that if the seized cannabis and skunk were processed, approximately 40 tons of powdered marijuana could be produced.
