Man dies after being struck by stray bullet while fishing
Metin Kafalı, who was struck by a bullet fired from an unidentified weapon while fishing by a river in Sakarya, has died in the hospital where he was taken in critical condition. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Metin Kafalı (50), a resident of the Yazılı neighborhood in the Erenler district of Sakarya, went fishing by the Sakarya River with his friend Saim Okur yesterday evening.
According to DHA reports, while the two friends were fishing, a bullet from a handgun, fired by an unknown person from an unknown location, struck Kafalı. As the injured Kafalı collapsed to the ground, his friend called the 112 Emergency Call Center to request assistance.
Upon notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Despite all interventions at the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital, where he was taken in critical condition, Kafalı could not be saved.
The body of Metin Kafalı, who was married and a father of three, was sent to the Sakarya Training and Research Hospital Korucuk Pre-Autopsy Center to determine the exact cause of death.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
After the autopsy procedures, Kafalı's body was handed over to his relatives and laid to rest at the Erenler Yazılı Neighborhood Cemetery following the funeral prayer held at the Erenler Yazılı Neighborhood Central Mosque after the afternoon prayer today.
Gendarmerie teams have launched an investigation to determine whether Kafalı lost his life due to a stray bullet or as a result of an armed attack.
