Mandatory camera requirement coming for slaughterhouses

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made important statements regarding the Draft Regulation on Special Hygiene Rules for Foods of Animal Origin, prepared by the General Directorate of Food and Control. Yumaklı stated that the draft has been opened for public opinion and that the final form of the regulation will be determined after evaluations are completed.

MANDATORY CAMERA REQUIREMENT COMING FOR SLAUGHTERHOUSES

Providing information on the changes to be made to the current regulation, which entered into force in 2011, Minister Yumaklı emphasized that they will introduce many new regulations to ensure that consumers have access to safe food. Yumaklı said, "From time to time, we were encountering images in slaughterhouses that we do not approve of. To prevent such incidents, we are making it mandatory to install camera systems at certain points in slaughterhouses."

DIGITAL TRACKING AND SECURITY INFRASTRUCTURE TO BE DEVELOPED

Yumaklı noted that with the new regulation, the necessary infrastructure will also be established to allow for the digital tracking of slaughtered animals when necessary. Stating that efforts to ensure food safety will continue without slowing down, Yumaklı said, "Stricter practices will be implemented in this regard."
