Mansur Yavaş: 'I am on my way to Istanbul'

Reactions to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues are growing like an avalanche. Tens of thousands have gathered in Saraçhane, Istanbul, to protest the detentions. 

Another figure whose eyes are turned toward the situation is Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş. Yavaş made a new post on his social media account. 

"I am currently on my way to Istanbul, but with all my heart, I am with the tens of thousands standing in Saraçhane beside our Mayor Ekrem," said Yavaş, who continued with the following statements:

"It is said in the Kutadgu Bilig: To protect the country, you need a strong army; for a strong army, you need a wealthy people; and for a wealthy people, you need justice. Hz. Ali also says: The religion of the state is justice. The Republican People's Party stands tall with our parliamentary group, our provincial chairs, our organization, our mayors, all our members, and all our citizens who believe in democracy. I am currently on my way to Istanbul, but with all my heart, I am with the tens of thousands standing in Saraçhane beside our Mayor Ekrem. We will continue our struggle to ensure that justice is served, sooner or later."
