Mansur Yavaş makes statement on SGK debts

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş held a press conference regarding the allegations of SGK debts of CHP-run municipalities, which were brought to the agenda by President and AKP Chairman Erdoğan.

Yavaş stated, "There were very high-interest debts taken out two or three years before we took office, without a single penny paid, and saddled onto the new administration as they anticipated losing the election. We were faced with the debt burden of previous administrations. We wanted to take out loans, but they did not grant permission in the Assembly," he said.

Mansur Yavaş said, "I believe the purpose of these statements made in recent days is entirely to discredit the CHP-run municipalities, which have become the hope of the people, and to create an artificial agenda."

WE DID NOT SPEND MONEY ON CRAZY PROJECTS

Saying "We did not spend money on crazy projects," Mansur Yavaş added, "If the CHP had not won Ankara and Istanbul, these would not have been done."

Reacting to the statement by Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Yavaş used the expressions, "Mr. Minister, you are like a bankrupt merchant! You are digging through old books. You cannot manage, and you are blaming others. Do not forget that this problem is not just the problem of CHP mayors, but the problem of all municipalities in the country."

THEY HAVE STARTED TO TARGET US

Mansur Yavaş continued his words as follows: "Due to the heavy defeat the government suffered on March 31, the poll results, and the deterioration in the economy that they cannot prevent, they have started to target municipalities by specifically changing the agenda. Especially only the CHP-run municipalities... They only announced the top 5 municipalities with debts. Why not the top 20, why not the top 50, or all of them?"

AN UNFAIR AND BASELESS PERCEPTION

"We look at the statements, and an unfair and baseless perception is being created as if the CHP-run municipalities were responsible for the deterioration in the financial balance of the SGK and, consequently, the situation of our retirees, whose right to receive a pension sufficient for a humane life has been usurped despite having worked for years and earned every penny."
