Mansur Yavaş shares condolences for Ali Şekeroğlu, who took his own life in front of the Constitutional Court

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş issued a statement on his social media account regarding 60-year-old retired police officer Ali Şekeroğlu, who took his own life during a protest in front of the Constitutional Court where pensioners were voicing their financial struggles and demands for rights.

Expressing his sorrow over Şekeroğlu's death, Yavaş extended his condolences to his family, relatives, and loved ones.

I am deeply saddened... The fact that one of our pensioners took his own life during a protest where our pensioners were voicing their financial struggles and demands for rights is where words fail. No person's desperation should be so great that they give up on their life. I pray for God's mercy upon retired police officer Ali Şekeroğlu; I wish patience to his family, relatives, and loved ones.

The incident occurred during a protest organized by pensioners in front of the Constitutional Court to draw attention to economic conditions and their demands for rights.
