Massacre in İzmir: 5 dogs and 6 cats poisoned to death

In a brutal incident in the Seferihisar district of İzmir, 5 dogs and 6 cats were poisoned to death. While teams are searching the area for other poisoned animals, a large-scale investigation into the incident has been launched.

In the Sığacık Neighborhood of İzmir's Seferihisar district, 5 dogs and 6 cats were poisoned to death yesterday around 17:00. 

After citizens noticed the suffering and deceased animals and reported the situation to the authorities, crime scene investigation teams from the Seferihisar District Police Department, the Seferihisar District Directorate of Agriculture, and shelter teams from the Seferihisar Municipality and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality were dispatched to the scene.

Authorities determined during their examinations in the area that 5 dogs and 6 cats had lost their lives due to poisoning. Additionally, 2 dogs found in a poisoned state were taken under treatment. 

Following the incident, teams from the ANDA Search and Rescue and the Animal Search and Rescue Association (HAK-TİM) also arrived in the area and began a field scan as of 23:30 to determine if there were any other poisoned animals.

Seferihisar Municipality issued a written statement regarding the incident, announcing that the poisonings are being investigated in all aspects and that efforts to identify those responsible are ongoing. The investigation into the incident continues.
