Massacre-like accident in Bursa: Two cars collided, many dead and injured
A traffic accident occurred in the early hours of the morning near the Kılıç Junction on the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway, involving two cars. Out of the 8 people in the vehicles that spun out of control, 2 lost their lives, and 6 were injured, 3 of them seriously. Traffic on the highway was reduced to a single lane due to the accident, which turned the scene into a battlefield. The engines of the cars involved in the accident were ripped from their mounts and scattered over an area of approximately 100 meters.

The accident occurred around 04:00 in the early morning near the Kılıç Junction on the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway. According to the information received, the car with license plate 35 AAK 265, driven by Abdurrahman Karataş (36), was traveling from Bursa towards Istanbul near the Kılıç Junction on the Gebze-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway when it allegedly struck a car with license plate 41 ASG 504, driven by an individual named Ömer Faruk, whose surname could not be determined, who was traveling in front of him.
BOTH CARS SPUN OUT OF CONTROL
With the force of the impact, both cars spun out of control on the road. The cars, which hit the barriers on the side of the road, were able to come to a stop after skidding for approximately 60 meters. In the accident, the driver of the car with license plate 35 AAK 265, Abdurrahman Karataş, and Buğra Demir Ülgül (28), who was in the same vehicle, were thrown from the car. Driver Abdurrahman Karataş and Cem Agin (23), who was a passenger in the other vehicle, lost their lives at the scene.
6 PEOPLE INJURED
6 people in both vehicles were injured in the accident. Health teams were dispatched to the scene due to the accident. After the 112 emergency health teams provided initial intervention to the injured, they were transferred to hospitals in Yalova.
Due to the accident, the Kılıç Junction on the highway turned into a battlefield. The engines of both colliding cars were ripped from their mounts and scattered over an area of approximately 60 meters. A car tire stuck in the barriers after the accident revealed the severity of the crash.
TRAFFIC REDUCED TO A SINGLE LANE
Police and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene due to the accident. While the teams took security measures on the road, traffic on the highway was provided from a single lane for a while. The bodies of the 2 people who lost their lives in the accident were taken by a hearse to the Yalova State Hospital morgue after the investigation at the scene.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED
After the accident, gendarmerie teams carried out a meticulous study in the accident area. Traffic returned to normal after the vehicles and vehicle parts were cleared from the road. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
