A question concerning working mothers was featured on the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” (Kim Milyoner Olmak İster?) game show broadcast on ATV. The contestant was asked about the total maternity leave duration that female employees can take before and after childbirth for single pregnancies, according to Labor Law No. 4857.
In the 100,000 lira question, the options displayed on the screen were 12, 16, 20, and 24 weeks. The correct answer was announced on the show as “D: 24 weeks.”

Following the broadcast of the question, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş made a statement on her social media account. In her post, Göktaş confirmed that the correct answer was 24 weeks and reminded the public of the regulation for working mothers.
Let us take this opportunity to remind everyone once again. Within the scope of the Decade of Family and Population, we have increased the maternity leave duration for all our working mothers from 16 weeks to 24 weeks.
In the same post, Göktaş addressed the contestant Sevgül Batur, wishing her “many beautiful years to spend in health and happiness with her little grandchild.” Minister Göktaş also thanked the production team for bringing the topic to the agenda.
