May 1st 'State of Emergency' in Istanbul: Numerous roads and metro lines closed

An undeclared state of emergency is effectively in place in Istanbul for May 1st, Labor and Solidarity Day. All roads leading to Taksim have been closed and barriers have been installed.

While parking is prohibited on streets and avenues leading to the square, parked vehicles in parking lots in Taksim, Şişhane, Kabataş, Mecidiyeköy, Şişli, Saraçhane, Beşiktaş Square, and Dolmabahçe have been removed.

Additionally, seven stations on the Yenikapı-Hacıosman metro line will be closed. The restrictions will begin as of 05:00 on May 1st. Under the decision taken by the Governor's Office, certain roads in the Beyoğlu, Şişli, Beşiktaş, Kartal, and Kadıköy districts have been closed to traffic. Certain points on the D-100 Highway have also been closed to traffic.

NUMEROUS METRO STATIONS CLOSED

The lines closed as of 05:30 on May 1st are as follows:

Suspension of service at the Vezneciler, Haliç, Taksim Square, Şişhane, Osmanbey, Mecidiyeköy, and Gayrettepe Zincirlikuyu metro stations (including all entry and exit points) on the M2 Yenikapı-Seyrantepe-Hacıosman metro line,

Suspension of service on the Kabataş-Taksim Square Funicular line,

Suspension of service for the Nostalgic Tram on Istiklal Avenue,

Suspension of service on the Tünel Square-Karaköy Funicular line,

Closure of the Taksim, Tarlabaşı, Ömer Hayyam, and Tepebaşı IETT bus stops (in both directions, towards Şişli and Fatih),

Suspension of service at the Gayrettepe metro station on the M11 Gayrettepe-İstanbul Airport metro line,

Suspension of service at all metro stations (including all entry and exit points) between Kağıthane and Yıldız on the M7 Istoç-Yıldız metro line,

On the tram line operating between Bağcılar and Kabataş, Topkapı station is designated as the final stop; no passengers will be transported between Topkapı and Kabataş,

On the T5 Eminönü-Alibeyköy Tram Line, Cibali station is designated as the final stop; passengers will be transported between Cibali and Eminönü,

On the T6 Tram line, Yenikapı station is designated as the final stop; passengers will be transported between Yenikapı and Kazlıçeşme,

Closure of the Çağlayan, Mecidiyeköy, and Zincirlikuyu Metrobüs stations in both directions (Lines not operated by your institution should be reported to the relevant authority and the Police Department informed.)

On the Kadıköy-Sabiha Gökçen Airport metro line, Exit No. 4 at the final stop in Kadıköy District will be closed, and other exits will be used,
