HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE DETAINED
According to information received from lawyers following the police intervention in Şişli, it was reported that more than 400 people were detained. CHP İstanbul Deputy Mahmut Tanal and other CHP deputies who supported the protest were subjected to the police blockade along with the citizens gathered in Şişli.
It was observed that CHP İstanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik was also in the blockaded area and was trying to support the citizens.
It was stated that Özgür Çelik, Türkan Elçi, and Ali Gökçek attempted to prevent the detention of citizens who wanted to march to Taksim on May 1st.
